There are over 84 children who benefit from the care and support at the SOS Children's Village
After the break up of the Soviet Union in 1991 economic conditions in Georgia worsened and many children were abandoned as their parents couldn’t look after them. More and more children were forced to live on the streets and fend for themselves. Circumstances were worsened by a civil war–like situation brought about by conflicts in the early 1990s. SOS Children’s Village Tbilisi is one of two SOS Children’s Villages that have been caring for orphaned and abandoned children since 1996.
84 children have found a new life and family
The children are comfortable and happy here and have the affection of 12 SOS Mums. In the local community the SOS Children’s Village, based in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi, supports the local teenagers through the SOS Social Centre. This centre provides IT training to over 260 teenagers each year.
Sponsoring a child gives them a future
SOS Children’s Village Tbilisi is still growing and sponsorships will make it possible to ensure more children are cared for on a long term basis.
