Offering a new life and family to over 150 children
Since the early 1980s SOS Children has worked in Liberia supporting orphaned and abandoned children in a country with the highest unemployment rate in the world. Based in one of the districts of the capital, the SOS Children’s Village has 15 family homes, an outpatients clinic, an SOS Nursery School and a primary and secondary school which is open to over 300 pupils. After civil war broke out in the mid 1990s, the SOS Children’s Village supported over 7,000 refugees whilst caring for children in need. Fleeing from conflict refugees found safety from rebels in SOS Children’s Village Monrovia.
12 SOS mothers will support the children
Children from SOS Children’s Village Monrovia benefit from a quality early education at the SOS Nursery School and the SOS School. Play areas, open to children from the local community, help to develop the children’s sense of community and belonging.
Giving children in need a future
With real support, sponsorship will allow children to adapt to their new life at the SOS Children’s Village which guarantees the best conditions for them to grow up in and contribute to their local community. Help us give them a new life and family, the love of an SOS Mum, an education and the right to a future.
