A new life for 140 chidren at the SOS Children's Village
Sudan is of one of the largest countries in the world, with a population of about 40 million. SOS Children’s Village Khartoum is home to orphaned children, often the victims of famine. With a daily income of less than £1 the economic problems are immense and were compounded by the civil war. Since the mid 1990s over four million people have been displaced, while frequent droughts and harvest failures mean there is insufficient food for the country’s children.
Mothers give the gift of love
Children at the SOS Children’s Village Khartoum now have protection and love from their SOS Mum. Children can attend the SOS School at Suba (twenty minutes from the village) and these schools are open to the local children as well. Due to demand extra classes were built and now over 1,200 children attend this school.
