Sumário

O verde representa a flora, o amarelo as riquezas minerais e o azul a esfera celestial. As significações diferem da bandeira original, na qual o verde representaria a Casa de Brangança -- à qual pertencia o imperador Pedro I do Brasil -- e o amarelo a de Habsburgo -- à qual pertencia a imperatriz D. Maria Leopoldina. Cada uma das estrelas representa um Estado do país, e existe o desenho respeita o formato de apresentação das constelações. Há a ligação exata de cada estrela à cada estado, com os respectivos nomes. A Estrela que fica acima da linha representa o único estado brasileiro cuja capital fica acima da linha do Equador. Há quem diga que esta estrela representa Brasíla, a capital.
