A shipyard on the banks of the Yangtze River building river barges. Photo taken Richard Chambers, AAA Yangtze Sampler tour, May 2004

This type of barge is a common sight on the Yangtze River carrying goods of various kinds from large bulk loads such as coal (which is loaded onto the barge from a coal loading point on the river bank) to manufactured goods such as automobiles.
