Public domain The two-dimensional work of art depicted in this image is in the public domain in the United States, either because it was first published in 1922 or earlier, or for the reason described either above or below this message. This photograph of the work is also in the public domain in the United States (see Bridgeman Art Library v. Corel Corp.).

Note: Unless the creator died more than 70 years ago, the work of art is not public domain worldwide. It is still, however, usable on the English Wikipedia, because the servers it uses are located in the United States. This information (Creator, death date, etc) should always be listed if known.

According to the link below where the image was obtained, this image was published in 1913. Because the U.S. had a fixed term of copyright before 1978, the copyright for this image (as well as for anything published in 1922 or before) has expired in the United States and so the image is in the public domain. This image is likely not public domain in other jurisdictions, however. Author of work died in 1966 according to link - so not PD. (also marked on Commons) Justinc 22:17, 5 September 2005 (UTC) ok, "Creator: Coburn, Alvin Langdon, 1882-1966 -- Photographer" This cannot be PD. There cannot be a dispute. I will list it on copyright problems. Justinc 01:16, 24 September 2005 (UTC)

The US had a fixed term of copyright before 1978, so this image is PD in the US. The image is likely not PD in any other jurisdiction, so the image is inappropriate for the Commons. JYolkowski // talk 14:28, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
There is no country in the world that extends copyright durations beyond that in the country whose copyright law originally applied -- either the country of first publication or the country of residence of the author. The Uninvited Co., Inc. 17:08, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
