The page giving the letter П ( /p/ ) in an ABC book printed in Moscow in 1694.
The words for the objects displayed all began with the letter п in the Russian of that time.
The alphabet is Cyrillic, in an ornate form (полуустав /poluustav/, "semi-uncial") banned from secular use in 1708, but still used today for liturgical and other religious texts in Church Slavonic. Note, however, the various cursive forms given.
The language is that strange mix of Russian and Church Slavonic typical of the final years of the Muscovite Period. Peter the Great is already the Tsar, but St. Petersburg is not to be founded for another nine years, until 1703.
