Description

Lifeboat Collapsible D, of the Titanic. This was the last lifeboat to be launched from Titanic. It was lowered from the port side at 2:05 a.m., 15 minutes before the Titanic sank. Compared to the other lifeboats it was relatively heavily though its official capacity was 47. Among these passengers were Michel and Edmond Navratil, Hugh Woolner, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Hoyt (Mr. Hoyt was pulled from the sea shortly after the lifeboat hit the water), and Mrs. Caroline L. Brown. Not all the people pictured were in the boat when it was lowered. Some were transferred from other lifeboats. This shot was taken from the Carpathia.
