One-loop vacuum polarization diagram.
This is the one loop contribution to the photon propagator Π due to vacuum polarization in quantum electrodynamics. It contributes to a wave function renormalization for the photon, leading to a charge screening. It has a logarithmic divergence.
Similar one-loop diagrams can be considered for other gauge bosons, such as W, Z and the gluons.
