Description |
Hurricane Alex, first storm of the 2004 Atlantic hurricane season. On August 3, 2004, Alex passed within 10 miles (16 km) of the Outer Banks of North Carolina before heading northeast into the north Atlantic Ocean. At the time, Hurricane Alex had sustained winds of 100 mp/h (160 km/h), making it a Category 2 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale. |
