Donation of advertising space in World Cup stadiums
13/06/2006
The “6 villages for 2006” campaign will be promoted at the 64 games of the World Cup in front of an audience of billions both in the stadiums and watching on television around the world. This is thanks to ODDSET, one of the national sponsors of this year's tournament, which has donated its advertising space to SOS Children's Villages.
Following a legal ruling, ODDSET, the branch of the German Lotto that handles sports betting, is no longer able to advertise in the World Cup stadiums. As a result, the company has generously decided to support SOS Children by donating its advertising space to the “6 villages for 2006” campaign.
The charity's Chief Executive, Andrew Cates said "Being involved in the World Cup is a wonderful opportunity for SOS Children and this donation by ODDSET, which will allow the billions of football fans around the world watching the tournament to find out more about the plight of orphaned children and SOS Children’s invaluable work."
President of the Organising Committee Franz Beckenbauer welcomed the cooperation between ODDSET and SOS Children's Villages. Once again, he praised "6 villages for 2006": "I think that it is a remarkable campaign. ODDSET has made a virtue of necessity and is putting the World Cup slogan 'A time to make friends' into practice."
