I relocated to the University of Konstanz, where I am heading the Data and Information Mining Lab. This page is no longer being updated.

I am a postdoctoral researcher in the the Data Science Lab (dlab) of Prof. Robert West, which is part of the School of Computer and Communication Sciences at EPFL. Previously, I was a doctoral research assistant at the Database Systems Research Group of Heidelberg University, where I obtained my PhD.

My research interests are focused on developing and applying algorithms and techniques for the exploration of large amounts of textual and network data, and include the areas of

  • information retrieval / information extraction,
  • complex network analysis / graph algorithms,
  • machine learning,
  • computational social science,
  • data mining / text mining, and
  • natural language processing.

Internships and research projects for students. If you are a student at EPFL and would like to work with me or other members of dlab on current research projects, please consult the list of open projects that our group maintains. If you are a student from outside EPFL, please go through the proper channels for applications, such as the summer internship.
