The Data Science Lab, or dlab for short, is a research group in the School of Computer and Communication Sciences at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Our research aims to make sense of large amounts of data. Typically, the data we work with is generated by humans (e.g., natural language or behavioral traces), and frequently it is collected on the Web (e.g., using wikis, online news, social media, server logs, online games, etc.). We distill heaps of raw data into meaningful insights by developing and applying algorithms and techniques in areas including
- natural language processing,
- machine learning,
- computational social science,
- social and information network analysis,
- data mining,
- human computation.
